MORE snow????

Okay, my posts are getting boring, yeah? We just got another couple of feet of snow, on top of what we've had so far. Above is a photo of our deck- you can see the snow is well over the 4' fence line in drifts- it actually goes up to the top of our windows!

Here's our back door. Last night at 11:30, I went to shovel and found that a plow had plowed in the entire back door that our building uses as a fire exit- about 6' in height and 4' in depth. I was fuming. Removing packed snow was a workout! Can you say folks (ahem, me) are starting to get grumpy?

I decided to go for a walk with my friend Steve today. Here he is above with a buried car.
Can you imagine digging out of this?

We walked along Newbury Street and saw this massive icicle:

Some fun shapes in the snow:

 Markets closed:
Very tall snow banks- see how they are now taller than people? And some creative snow play:

Tough to find the trash barrels!:
 Snow overhangs on buildings:
 Snow and icicles:

Some photos from Trinity Church:

Back home, here is our neighbor Divya, who has been out of school several times recently, including Monday and Tuesday. School systems are talking about extending the school year through the end of June!
We made faces in the snow using some Jolly Rancher candy for eyes and nose. Divya loved that and wanted to try every single flavor - I gave some to his grandma to give him later:

It's a little worrisome as our transit system shut down yesterday and is closed today. We are expected to get more snow on Thursday and then again on the weekend. I really hope it's not too much- we are running out of places to put it! In the same vein, folks have been very helpful and it's been fun to get to know neighbors while digging out together.

Your snow is in our news here every day and at frequent intervals. There are problems with house roofs caving in from the weight of the snow and looking at your pictures I can imagine people getting hurt from falling overhangs and icicles. I remember when they were building Sky Tree they had to come up with some paint surface to solve the problem of icicles forming above and smashing cars or people when they fell. Do keep safe. The news showed trucks carrying snow off to dump elsewhere and said they were running out of places to put it ... but in front of emergency exits? not a good plan! Thanks for the pictures.

Looks like you're doing a good job keeping the sidewalk clear. Stay warm... I hope the rain and warm weather come soon to wash it all away!

The Latest on Leia Lately, Leia has been giving names to all of her stuffed animals, dolls, and any character in a book we come across without a name. They are very creative for the most part... Today, she named her doll from Aunt Marie and Aunt Kimie " Baby Jesus "!! I guess she remembered the name from when I told her the story of Christmas and it made an impression on her. I just had to share that with you all. I'm trying my best not to explode into laughter each time she says it. :) These days, Leia likes to run to yochien, and run home from yochien, and "race" me on the bike. She is a fast runner, and barely runs out of breath, and so someday, I expect her to visit Marie and Tim for the Boston marathon! Today, she actually ran out of breath, telling me, "There is no more air in my tummy! (Onaka ni kuuki ga nakunacchatta!)" She learned a song in yochien where they use the expression "gozansu" as a sentence ending. These days, she adds it ...

Jiji's paintings

Hi all, We had a productive day at Shiki yesterday and had the estimate for the move to the storage, where we will make the final labeling and preparation for shipment to the US. We will be back there a few more times before the move to storage on the 16th, Friday. There are a few more items I'd like for you all to look at, but since I don't have all the data collected, I'll send them in batches. Here are a few of Jiji's paintings I'm wondering if anyone is interested in. Please let me know! Thanks!
