Random shots from March and April 2009 Kaplas are the best toy around (with Legos being a close second). See below for various dwellings and habitats for penguins and army guys. Above is one of the better examples of what I find on the camera when the boys get their hands on it -- I'll spare the inappropriate shots. Below: Happy Chocolate Bunny Day, I mean Easter! Indoor Easter egg hunt Someone needs a haircut. Uncle Ken came to town for Kimie and Peter's baby shower party. He drove up early to stop in at Opal School and talk to the 2nd and 3rd grade wildlife researchers about his spotted owl work. Below Ken is showing the students how the leg bands work. April 18: Baby shower for Kimie and Peter at my house. Beautiful sunny day, great food, and lots of gifts to help the soon-...
I tried to post a comment but the website does not accept my password no matter how many times I type it in! What I wanted to comment on was the fact that one of you kids, probably Ken or Jon had a baby tooth sticking straight our when the new one came in. It never did get wiggly and just dropped off when I went to see if it was getting so. Congratulations bunny!
What do Paul and a snowshoe hare have in common?* Half the people in this family are losing their teeth at regular intervals. I think Ben has lost 7. His most recent lost tooth was pulled out at school, we think a bit prematurely. A story was being told about a child losing a tooth, and not one to waste a golden opportunity, Ben yanked his slightly loose tooth out of his mouth, complaining later in the day that the gum with the empty space was tender. Paul is slightly behind Ben in the teeth-losing department. However, something interesting to note is that so far, the new teeth have half way grown in before the baby tooth is lost. Here is the most recent example: We don't know if this is a natural course of events, or if it has to do with a fear of pulling the tooth out. Probably a little of both. Needless to say, his appearance is a bit amusing these days -- one upper incisor finally did come out a few nights ago, so right now, the remaining baby incisor is sticking way out...
Four and a half weeks to go... Make room -- comin' through, comin' through!
Hey all! We skipped a few months, but here is a photo of Leia two days before her 1st birthday! The cute outfit is from her Auntie Kimie. She started walking with full confidence two days after her birthday...so you can imagine she's keeping us busy :) Today, she walked all over the garden - down one side of the house and around to the other without falling down once - and she didn't even look back to see if Mama was following. At her quick pace, it's a good thing we have a gate and a hill enclosure to keep her from venturing too far! Please look at Leia's Picasa album to see the rest (in the album called "new album"). We hope to post a few more soon! Love Norie and Hiro
OK, here is another one. This is the finished ASIJ quilt. It went for one point two million yen. The lady that got it has helped on this quilt plus the last two quilts and was a bidder on the dragon quilt that went for the same amount.
The third time is a charm. the right picture at last! That is an angelfood cake with colorful sprinkles and some sweet daphne in the center. I think she is saying, "Get this picture over with, I've got things to do!"
Here is a birthday picture you might enjoy if I can figure out how to attach it.
Spring in Boston! Finally! Springtime arrives! The forsythia and star magnolia are in full bloom, and the runners have landed. Tim and I picked up our numbers today at the marathon expo: Race day weather forecast looks good- overcast and cool in the low 50's, with rain arriving towards the late hours. Let's see how we do! My trip to D.C. was very nice and I have photos which you can see HERE or else take a look at this very cute photo of Maile and me: Look forward to hearing about everyone's Easter, Kimie's shower, and seeing missing photos from our reunion- if anyone else has photos they haven't posted, please send them around! Best, -M
