Happy Thanksgiving! Hi everyone, Here are a few pictures from our Thanksgiving escape to Seaside on the Oregon coast. We had torrential downpour for about a week or more here in Portland, flooding in the streets due to leaves plugging storm drains, etc. We had two solid days with not a drop of rain at the coast. Friday was partly cloudy but cold. Today was very cloudy, but the air was still and it was much warmer! Summer or winter, warm or cold, we have a great time on the beach! Special thanks for a new camera from Mom and Papa, my early birthday gift, without which we would not have had these photos documenting our fun holiday! Happy football fans -- a hotel room has something we don't have at home -- a TV! Thanksgiving buffet dinner at McKeown's Restaurant and Bar, very delicious! Suki doggie's first trip to the beach with us. When they're not watching football, they are playing football... But once in a while the football gets a rest while sister shares her ne...
Well, that is interesting ... Usually the first picture in goes on top . I guess you will have to read this from the bottom up because I am not going to download these pictures again! This pyracantha is by a neighbour's house. Is that amazing or what? The birds will get plenty to eat this winter. The hototogisu or toad lily had a bad attack of caterpillars that ate most of the leaves and buds. Even so, it is doing its best. I just love this plant! We had a delightful lunch with the Kresses at the top of the Ku office building. Lots of sunny view. Doesn't Arnold look great in the beard? And... here you see the cuff links close up. Then you see how happy Papa is to be wearing them. Hope you guys have had a fun time together. Hugs all 'round, Mom
Hi Guys, Well,  Zia and I made it home from our trip to Belize late Tue. night at around 1 in the morning (3am Belize time), then went to work the next day.  We had an amazing time despite only a few hiccups.  We left Grants Pass at 5am on the 31st of Oct. and arrived in Belize on Nov. 1st at around 4pm. They were the cheapest tickets we could get, but I'm not sure it was worth the 35hrs. of travel with all the layovers!!!!! On the way there the last leg of our flight from the US was delayed and we missed our connecting flight from Belize city to Dangringa where we were to take a bus to Hopkins.  We ended up having to stay in Belize city overnight unexpectedly incurring an extra cab fee and nights stay.  The next day we caught the first flight out of Belize City to Dangringa then took a cab to the local pharmacy to buy some antibiotic eyedrops as I had gotten an eye infection enroute. With eyedrops in hand we walked to the "bus stop" a place where the bus was p...
Shichi-Go-San, Celebrated! Getting all your ducks in a row for a picture is NOT the easiest part of the occasion. Hopefully Hiro has something in his camera to share but it is hard for a flashing light on a camera balanced on a tripod to know when everyone is looking (let alone smiling) in the same direction. When a target moves as quickly as Leia, the task is nearly impossible. Assistant or subject? We searched for the kimono worn by you four girls when you were three but with three moves and boxes piled on boxes, all we could come up with was the hair ornament and some well worn tabi and geta. Fueling up on sugar ... Who needs Halloween? Papa and Obachan were well ahead of this part of the group. Well, they didn't have to stop to check out the flowers or watch the fish in t he pond or jump down the steps. We had a lovely tea break and a dinner in a fancy place. It was a long day but the object of the celebration never slowed down. Soon you will get to experience "the blur...
We celebrated mom's birthday in style. Marie had made these adorable confection toppings in Boston before her visit and wrapped each one individually in tissue which we placed on top of some yummy beet chocolate cup cakes. Then the trick or treating began! Irene raided the lollipop from Julie and Lucien's bowl before she left the house. They got lots of ooh's and ahh's!
