What do Paul and a snowshoe hare have in common?*
Half the people in this family are losing their teeth at regular intervals. I think Ben has lost 7. His most recent lost tooth was pulled out at school, we think a bit prematurely. A story was being told about a child losing a tooth, and not one to waste a golden opportunity, Ben yanked his slightly loose tooth out of his mouth, complaining later in the day that the gum with the empty space was tender.
Paul is slightly behind Ben in the teeth-losing department. However, something interesting to note is that so far, the new teeth have half way grown in before the baby tooth is lost. Here is the most recent example:
We don't know if this is a natural course of events, or if it has to do with a fear of pulling the tooth out. Probably a little of both. Needless to say, his appearance is a bit amusing these days -- one upper incisor finally did come out a few nights ago, so right now, the remaining baby incisor is sticking way out, with the new tooth growing in behind.
*Rabbits and hares belong to the order Lagomorpha. One characteristic they possess is two rows of upper incisors.
