Random shots from March and April 2009
Kaplas are the best toy around (with Legos being a close second).
See below for various dwellings and habitats for penguins and army guys.
Above is one of the better examples of what I find on the camera when the boys get their hands on it -- I'll spare the inappropriate shots. Below: Happy Chocolate Bunny Day, I mean Easter!
Uncle Ken came to town for Kimie and Peter's baby shower party. He drove up early to stop in at Opal School and talk to the 2nd and 3rd grade wildlife researchers about his spotted owl work.
Below Ken is showing the students how the leg bands work.
April 18: Baby shower for Kimie and Peter at my house. Beautiful sunny day, great food, and lots of gifts to help the soon-to-be parents prepare for baby.
I love my brother.
Although today, April 30, I'm sitting indoors in Portland wearing a wool hat and polar fleece and my fingers are so numb I can hardly type, Sunday April 19 was a rare sunny, windless day at the Oregon Coast. Paul and I tagged along with Peter and Kimie while Lucien and Ben stayed behind for Ben's buddy River's birthday party. The surfing wasn't good that day, but we sure enjoyed exploring the beach and throwing the baseball.
New glasses!
Ben is growing plants from seed at school. We took the nasturtiums home to add to the geraniums on the porch, but the vegetables will go in the playground raised beds. Since his parents are close to being complete failures at tending growing things in the yard, their survival rate should be improved by staying at school!

Wow, those boys are growing up quickly! I love the photo of Paul that Ben took! The one of you and Ken is really nice, too...and we LOVE the photo of the big smiles on the expecting parents!! Leia was trying to kiss the screen when I opened up the photo to show her at a larger scale.
CONGRATULATIONS to Paul for his adult teeth! I hope the tooth fairy rewards him handsomely when the time comes!
