Holiday Greetings from Boston! Hi everyone! We are just back from a great trip to D.C. and have some photos of our time with Maria, Jon and Kai:

We arrived in Baltimore very late Friday after a delayed flight, and Jon was nice enough to come and get us in the wee hours. To bed and then a welcome little voice to get us up in the morning and playing. :) Here are some photos of Kai's new playroom, which he invited us to, and a pancake breakfast that Maria whipped up:

Jon mapped out a running route for Tim and which took us around the Washington mall. What a fun way to sight see and get our training done at the same time! We met up with Maria, Jon and Kai afterwards, and took a brief walk through the Botanical Gardens. That afternoon, we had time to join in Kai's favorite activity of touring neighborhood Christmas decorations and then that evening to see the amazingly elaborate light displays at D.C.'s Morman church. I think Jon will post photos of that one, but here one of the connoisseur at work:
The evening saw a sofa veg out with Jon Stewart and some down time for the grown ups:The next day, our hosts planned a special trip for Tim to see the Manassas battlefield, after a brief stop at an open market. Tim walked portions of the trail while Maria, Jon, Kai and Marie played at the visitor center:
We had a delicious lunch of Pollo Rico chicken and some time to walk around. Tim and I had fun taking Kai up the street to look at the blow up Santa ornament while Jon and Maria put together a delicious dinner of pot roast and veggies, delicata squash, salad, cheese and bread, with a yummy apple crisp for dessert. We all got to sleep so that Santa could come.....
The next morning was so much fun! Kai was delighted to see the stockings Santa had filled and loved each and every present: Some stamp sets from his Nana, hats from Julie, Paul and Ben, storybooks from Norie and Rebecca, and bricks and a sushi playset from Tim and Marie among others... We had a chance to talk with some of you and I am sure most of you heard how communicative that Kai is. It was so much fun! The morning swept by way too fast and before we knew it, it was time to scoop up our things and rush out the door. We are so grateful to Maria and Jon for inviting us for this special Christmas. Kai is a wonderful little boy and we had so much fun being a part of your household during the holidays. Hope to see you again soon! Happy holidays, everyone!

The Latest on Leia Lately, Leia has been giving names to all of her stuffed animals, dolls, and any character in a book we come across without a name. They are very creative for the most part... Today, she named her doll from Aunt Marie and Aunt Kimie " Baby Jesus "!! I guess she remembered the name from when I told her the story of Christmas and it made an impression on her. I just had to share that with you all. I'm trying my best not to explode into laughter each time she says it. :) These days, Leia likes to run to yochien, and run home from yochien, and "race" me on the bike. She is a fast runner, and barely runs out of breath, and so someday, I expect her to visit Marie and Tim for the Boston marathon! Today, she actually ran out of breath, telling me, "There is no more air in my tummy! (Onaka ni kuuki ga nakunacchatta!)" She learned a song in yochien where they use the expression "gozansu" as a sentence ending. These days, she adds it ...

Jiji's paintings

Hi all, We had a productive day at Shiki yesterday and had the estimate for the move to the storage, where we will make the final labeling and preparation for shipment to the US. We will be back there a few more times before the move to storage on the 16th, Friday. There are a few more items I'd like for you all to look at, but since I don't have all the data collected, I'll send them in batches. Here are a few of Jiji's paintings I'm wondering if anyone is interested in. Please let me know! Thanks!
