Breaking Ground in DC

Well, we've been talking about this for almost 2 years... it's finally about to happen.

We spent the weekend doing the following:
1) Move security door from kitchen to the attached potting/sun room doorway (to secure the space for temporary storage)
2) Organized all Garage contents into the following categories: (Garbage, Move to sun room to be used occasionally, Move to basement to be dealt with at a later date). We're pleased that almost half of the stuff was garbage)
3) Prepped sun room & basement areas for temporary storage.
4) Move all items to their respective places and organize by usage.
5) Take all garbage to the dumpster in the alley... the bin's are overflowing.

All of this was done in preparation of the following:
Starting today, our contractors will be converting our attached garage into our new office space - to be further utilized as a 4th bedroom when we sell the house.
When they complete the office (in 10 days ~3 weeks), Maria and I will move our office equipment from the basement "dungeon" to the new space.

When we are sufficiently moved, and the basement is sufficiently organized, the contractors will move downstairs to completely gut the existing basement. They'll be enclosing the furnace and water boiler, creating a laundry room, adding a full bath complete with walls, providing storage space for our new family room.

Finally... for those of you who have been here, you know that the kitchen and basement are only accessible by taking a stroll through the sitting room and dining room. The plan is to add a threshold to the kitchen which will be directly accessible to from the sitting room.

We hope to have all of this work completed by the end, if not before, the end of September.

We're really excited about this!!! I'll be taking before and after photos to show you all when it's completed.

Much love,

-Jon
