We've Moved! ...  well, almost.

We started out heading North/North-West to Pennsylvania late Friday evening bound for Frank Lloyd Write's Fallingwater.  We were giving a lengthy room by room tour of the home and learn a lot of FLW's design philosophy and design principles as well as many things about his relationship with the patron family.

From there - we started making our way west, stopping in Cleveland for the night...

After a nights rest and a Father's Day breakfast (Happy Belated Father's Day to all the clan Fathers), we headed to Chicago to check out Millennium Park.

After we left Chicago, there was a long stretch of road from Illinois to Sioux Falls.  Nothing but farms and windmills...

When we hit S. Dakota, we checked out Badlands National Park.

And our last stop - we hit Mt. Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial

We arrived in Colorado yesterday and swung by our new home-to-be and said hello to the out-going owners as they packed their home in a massive 18 wheeler.  We enjoyed our first home-cooked meal in over 5 days at Maria's sister's home.

Today we got the walkthrough of the home, where the previous owners showed us all of their upgrades and showed us manuals on all of the appliances, contacts for all their contractors and maintenance people for interior and exterior of the home.

We officially signed the papers shortly after and we handed the keys.  The house is in really great condition, but it's completely empty - until our truck arrives.  I'm waiting for a call from the company with an ETA - hopefully it won't be too much longer.

I can't wait to host any/all of you at our new home:

Jon, Maria, Kaiea and Maile Fukuda
2130 North Shore Drive
Longmont, CO 80503

Much Love from our your very own Coloradoans!

-J

Congrats, Jon. Though I'm sad you won't be so nearby, I'm happy that you have such a great new place to call home. Love to all.-M

The Latest on Leia Lately, Leia has been giving names to all of her stuffed animals, dolls, and any character in a book we come across without a name. They are very creative for the most part... Today, she named her doll from Aunt Marie and Aunt Kimie " Baby Jesus "!! I guess she remembered the name from when I told her the story of Christmas and it made an impression on her. I just had to share that with you all. I'm trying my best not to explode into laughter each time she says it. :) These days, Leia likes to run to yochien, and run home from yochien, and "race" me on the bike. She is a fast runner, and barely runs out of breath, and so someday, I expect her to visit Marie and Tim for the Boston marathon! Today, she actually ran out of breath, telling me, "There is no more air in my tummy! (Onaka ni kuuki ga nakunacchatta!)" She learned a song in yochien where they use the expression "gozansu" as a sentence ending. These days, she adds it ...

Jiji's paintings

Hi all, We had a productive day at Shiki yesterday and had the estimate for the move to the storage, where we will make the final labeling and preparation for shipment to the US. We will be back there a few more times before the move to storage on the 16th, Friday. There are a few more items I'd like for you all to look at, but since I don't have all the data collected, I'll send them in batches. Here are a few of Jiji's paintings I'm wondering if anyone is interested in. Please let me know! Thanks!
