Picture from Family Visits

Sorry it has taken so long to post these.  Here are the pictures from Kimie's visit on New Years with Irene. Jon and Marie's weekend visit in January. Julie and Naomi's visit in February, and our impromptu visit to Portland last weekend.
Kimie and Irene's visit:
We rang in the New Year together, barely making it to midnight.  It was a great visit, but fairly cold out, so alot of time was spent around the house. We did manage to take Phoebe on her first hike along Limpy Creek along a cold and icy trail. That didn't stop Ryden and Irene from playing in the water though.
Marie and Jon's visit was short and sweet. It rained nearly the whole time they were here, so we mostly stayed inside playing some new games Ryden had gotten for christmas and playing with his new toys, and of course lots of Phoebe time.  We took a trip to the Saturday market for some Jam, fish, and salsa.  Of course the day they left it started to clear up, so Jon and us took a quick trip to the park before his flight took off. Marie's flight was delayed both coming and going, I think she made it from the rain here right into the polar vortex that hit the midwest and east coast.  Wished they could have stayed longer.
Julie and Naomi were next to come and visit. they were planning on staying an extra day, but had to cut their trip short, due to a nasty snow storm that was moving in to the area.  While they were here we also went to the market and a trip to Pennington Farms, a local fruit and jam stand.  We also managed to take a trip down to Riverside park to feed the ducks and geese.
Last weekend we took a trip up the coast for the weekend to spend with one of Zia's friends. At the last minute we decided to drive up to Portland to see the Eastern bluebirds Zia had been wanting to see.  Luckily Kimie was gracious enough to host us on such short notice.  We drove up and met Julie at the bird's last reported location between a golf course and soccer field which both were being used. Luckily Julie had just seen them before we arrived and was in the right area. They relocated them shortly after arriving, then we headed back to Kimie's house.  It was a short trip but good to see everyone!!
Phoebe is doing great and has been spending her time during the week with Zia at the office, which she will be able to do till she's 6 months old.  After that we will have her in day care.  Likely the same one Ryden has been going to.  It was great seeing everyone and hope it's not long before we see you all again.  Also looking forward for Mom, Norie and family to meet Phoebe!!!!
Love you all
Ken

Ken! Thank you so much for the update! Pheobe is so---o precious! So nice to see all her admirers, too. That's great that she can be with Zia in the office. We're hoping to find a way to get over there soon...in the meantime, please give extra hugs for us. Thanks again for the wonderful photos. You all look great! xoxoNorie, Hiro and Leia💕

The Latest on Leia Lately, Leia has been giving names to all of her stuffed animals, dolls, and any character in a book we come across without a name. They are very creative for the most part... Today, she named her doll from Aunt Marie and Aunt Kimie " Baby Jesus "!! I guess she remembered the name from when I told her the story of Christmas and it made an impression on her. I just had to share that with you all. I'm trying my best not to explode into laughter each time she says it. :) These days, Leia likes to run to yochien, and run home from yochien, and "race" me on the bike. She is a fast runner, and barely runs out of breath, and so someday, I expect her to visit Marie and Tim for the Boston marathon! Today, she actually ran out of breath, telling me, "There is no more air in my tummy! (Onaka ni kuuki ga nakunacchatta!)" She learned a song in yochien where they use the expression "gozansu" as a sentence ending. These days, she adds it ...

Jiji's paintings

Hi all, We had a productive day at Shiki yesterday and had the estimate for the move to the storage, where we will make the final labeling and preparation for shipment to the US. We will be back there a few more times before the move to storage on the 16th, Friday. There are a few more items I'd like for you all to look at, but since I don't have all the data collected, I'll send them in batches. Here are a few of Jiji's paintings I'm wondering if anyone is interested in. Please let me know! Thanks!
