We had such a good time and mom was an excellent sport, despite being under the weather. We did a lot of things: Went to the Museum, Kelleher Rose Garden, Tai Chi, shopping, community gardens and Dickson park, Kaji Aso studio, Pittsburg N.H., Quincy Market.... phew! Mom, please visit again soon- we love having you come to Boston!

A couple days after mom left, Tim and I packed ourselves off to Oregon. Tim's family had a reunion at Arch Cape, and we managed a blended family trip. We arrived on the 27th, just in time to celebrate the last few minutes of my birthday! Julie and Kimie surprised me with beautiful desserts and some delicious wine at Kimie's. We slept at Peter and Kimie's and left the next morning for Arch Cape, picking up groceries as we went.

Ken and Zia took a looong drive up and met us at the house, and we unpacked our things and made some more store runs. Ken and Zia stayed overnight in a tent set up in the back yard of the rental house. The Horns arrived and we had a festive evening.

The next day, Ken and Zia left, and I think Kimie and Peter arrived with Paul. We had a very nice day! I can't remember, but I think Kimie drove back with Peter that evening but came back again after that the next day. Paul stayed over at the house and we had lots of fun.

Julie, Luc, and the kids reserved a campsite not too far from the house. We had a great time and so did the kids! Richard's son Dylan was able to hang out with Paul and Ben, and Sherrod and Genevieve had fun playing with Irene and Naomi. Also, Paul and Dylan made a special event happen for Sherrod, who is enamored of pirates- they made him a makeshift costume out of paper bags and fashioned a treasure map, complete with 'buried' treasure. :-)

After the Horn/Fukuda reunion, Tim went back home and I stayed a few more days with Kimie and Peter. I had fun at the Portland Rose Garden, going to a river during a hot day with the kids, going to swim classes, hanging out with Julie and Kimie despite Julie taking ill, going to a raceway with Paul and Ben AND an amusement park, and finally, enjoying a nice block party on Julie's street before heading home. Here are some photos- thanks to everyone in Portland for making the trip so much fun!:
